The monument comprises the remains of a shieling settlement of seven subrectangular huts set on a terrace to the N of the Quoich Water. The huts measure up to 7.2m by 1.9m internally, each with an entrance to the side. There is also what may be a later shepherd's bothy.
The area to be scheduled measures a maximum of 190m N-S by 140m E-W, to include the buildings and an area around and between them within which traces of activities associated with their construction and use may survive, all as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance as a well-preserved example of a smaller shieling settlement, which has the potential to enhance considerably our understanding of the construction and use of such sites.
