Description

The monument comprises a hut circle, a substantial circular domestic building dating from the first millenium BC.

The monument lies at around 210m OD, on a craggy west-facing hillslope, overlooking the Claddy House Burn and Loch Ryan. It is slightly oval in shape, about 12m in maximum overall diameter, over stone walls standing up to 0.5m high and spread to 2m wide. The entrance on the SSE is protected by a baffle wall.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 35m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
