The monument is of national importance, despite its disturbed nature, because it is one of a number of monuments which are likely to be associated with the ritual enclosure on the summit of Finnarts Hill, which is a very unusual form of monument probably also associated with burial and associated activities. The cairn has the potential to provide further information about its date and form as well as environmental data from the old ground surface which it seals.
