Clydach Coal Level

A Scheduled Monument in Brynmawr (Bryn-mawr), Blaenau Gwent

Clydach Colliery, Brynmawr

Uploader's Comments

The old coal levels were just below the path running across the centre of the picture. This path was the Merthyr, Tredegar and Abergavenny Railway which closed in 1958. At the bottom of the picture is the Heads of the Valleys Road, originally built in 1960 as a 3-lane highway and recently rebuilt as a dual carriageway on two levels, eventually fully opening in December 2021.
