The monument consists of the remains of a chambered cairn dating from the Neolithic period.
The cairn is situated on the southwest slope of Beinn a' Chlaidh, overlooking Loch Borve.
The scheduled area is circular with a maximum diameter of 20m, centred on the cairn, as shown in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because it is a prehistoric burial place which has the potential to contribute to our knowledge of the ritual beliefs, social organisation and material culture of the Neolithic groups responsible for the construction of the burial structure.
