Description

The monument comprises the remains of a souterrain of later prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 150m OD. It comprises a souterrain some 12m long by up to 2m wide showing as a light coloured cropmark. Souterrains were semi-underground storage buildings associated with above-ground settlements. The remains of the former above-ground structures may be expected to survive close to the souterrain.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the remains desribed and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 70m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
