This fenced off Enigmatic Hollow is within the cairnfield area at NZ 64471 10511 it is very similar to the one on Battersby Moor at NZ 60795 06711 whose photo I have uploaded to the web page for the Cross Dike 850m WSW of Baysdale Farm at NZ 60748 06655 as it is close by . There is in fact another one on Ingleby Moor at NZ 60299 04562 and one on Urra Moor at NZ 58267 02631. These hollows are all too similar for them to be natural with the ones on Urra Moor , Ingleby Moor and Battersby Moor all within a few miles of each other along the Cleveland Way. Anybody got any ideas what they are. Stanhope White in his 1987 book Standing Stones and Earthworks of the North Yorkshire Moors believes the one on Battersby Moor to be artificial created by rubbing but doesn’t know what it was for. He doesn’t mention the other three so probably didn’t know about them. This photo was taken in the first week of April 2014
