Description

The monument comprises three standing stones of prehistoric date. It is in the care of the Scottish Ministers and is being re-scheduled to clarify the extent of the protected area.

The monument lies in improved grassland at around 65m OD. It comprises an alignment of three standing stones, although the middle stone has fallen and now lies prostrate. The upright stones stand about 13m apart, aligned NE-SW. Both measure about 3m tall. The prostrate stone lies about 3m from the SW upright stone. Lying at right angles to the alignment, it measures about 2.7m long. The monument probably relates to ritual activity of Neolithic or Bronze Age date.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is rectangular with maximum dimensions of 34m from its northernmost point to its southernmost point and 34m from its easternmost point to its westernmost point, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract. The area proposed for scheduling is identical to the area in care.
