Description

The monument comprises a palisaded settlement (of four phases) if the late Bronze Age/Iron Age, a fort of two phases of the Iron Age and spade-dug cultivation terraces known as Cord Rig, contemporary with part of the occupation of the site. Stratigraphic relationships between the defensive features and houses, between houses and between the settlement and cord rig, clearly survive. The scheduled area now includes the cord rig field system. The cord rig, the palisades and the house stances are relatively slight features which could easily be destroyed.
