The monument comprises the remains of a stone circle or "four poster"
of Bronze Age date represented by four standing stones set on top of
a grassy knoll.
The monument lies on locally prominent location at around 180m OD
close to a small tributary of the River Ericht. The site comprises
four relatively small stones set on the edge of a slight mound some
9m in diameter and 0.2m high. The stones are all rough boulders and
some may have been slightly displaced. This type of stone circle is
of likely Bronze Age date and would have formed a focus for ritual activity over a protracted period.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible features and an area around them in which traces of associated ritual activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 20m as marked
in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to add to our understanding of Bronze Age ritual practice. The area between and around the stones may be expected to contain evidence for a range of ritual activity.
