Assessment of national importance
The kiln barn, building and enclosure are of interest as the surviving remains of a post-medieval farmstead. However the surviving remains are relatively slight and largely obscured by field clearance. The surviving remains do not differ substantially from farmsteads known elsewhere and post-medieval farmsteads are not uncommon, with many hundreds across Scotland. The cup marked boulder appears to be field clearance dumped on the site. Based on the current available evidence, the site therefore does not meet the criteria for national importance and has been removed from the schedule.
