Description

The monument comprises an enclosed settlement of later prehistoric date, visible as a cropmark on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 50m OD. It is visible as a sub-circular enclosure, measuring about 52m NW-SE by about 40m internally, defined by a ditch approximately 4m wide, with an entrance on the NE. At the time of construction, this ditch would probably have had an accompanying internal rampart. These defences would have enclosed a timber-built settlement.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 80m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
