Description

The monument is a burial cairn of the late neolithic or Bronze Agesituated in an area of rough pasture on the crest of Galla Hill. Itmeasures 15m in diameter overall and 1m high. The area to bescheduled includes the cairn and an area around it within whichtraces of activity associated with its use may be found. It measures30m in diameter, centred on the monument, as marked in red on theattached map.

Statement of Scheduling

The monument is of national importance as a well-preserved example of a burial cairn of the late Neolithic or Bronze Age which has the potential to enhance considerably our understanding of prehistoric funerary and ritual practices.
