The monument comprises a fort of later prehistoric date, visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 15m OD. The fort is sub-circular, measuring about 70m in maximum internal diameter. Its defences consist of two ditches about 2-4m wide and between 2m and 8m apart. There are entrances on the SW and ESE. At the time of construction, the ditches would have been accompanied by substantial ramparts. Within the interior, close to the entrance, there is a narrow circular cropmark, measuring about 15m in overall diameter, which represents the remains of a timber roundhouse.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 110m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
