Description

The monument comprises a rubble-built, rectangular-shaped late 16th-century doocot with crow-stepped gables and moulded rat course. The structure is roofed with slates and the nesting boxes are preserved in situ. The arms and initials of Sir David Maxwell of Tealing appear on the south gable while his initials and those of his wife are inscribed on the door lintel.

The area to be scheduled is a rectangle including the doocot and an area of ground extending 2m out from the outer face of its walls on all sides, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

Note: this was scheduled under AMJ/4608/1/1, and subsequently assigned SAM number 7455, in error. The correct SAM number, 90298 was then assigned, and 7455 cancelled by technical descheduling. [NF]
