Description

The monument comprises a stone circle of Neolithic date. It is being re-scheduled to ensure adequate protection is given to the archaeological remains.

The monument lies in grassland at around 600m OD. It comprises a stone circle composed of four boulders, two of which are upright, the other two being recumbent. The recumbent stones measure between about 1-1.5m in length, while the uprights measure about 1-1.2m high. The stone to the E has had around 20 cup-marks, including some cup-and-ring marks, on its E face, and a further 16 on its W face. The cup-marks are now heavily weathered. The circle measures about 14m in overall diameter.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described above and an area around them within which related material may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 40m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
