The monument comprises an unenclosed settlement of prehistoric date.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 30m OD. It consists of a range of settlement remains, including the remains of timber roundhouses, pits, lengths of ditch, and other associated structures. The existence of this extensive site has been demonstrated by geophysical survey and trial archaeological excavation.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is rectangular, measuring 240m by 70m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Its importance is increased by its close proximity to sites of potentially contemporary date.
