The monument comprises a burial cairn of prehistoric date, visible as a tree-covered mound.
The monument lies in arable farmland, on the boundary between two fields, at around 95m OD. It consists of a conical mound of stone and earth, measuring about 25m in diameter and about 3.5m in height. It forms a prominent feature within the modern landscape.
The mound is characteristic of burial monuments of the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods, approximately 2000-3000 BC, and it may be expected to contain evidence of burials and related ritual practices.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the visible remains and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 50m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract. Above-ground elements of the modern fence which crosses the mound are excluded from the scheduling.
