The monument comprises the remains of a souterrain of later prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 250m OD. It comprises an infilled passage some 15m long and varying in width from around 1m at its entrance to approximately 4m at its far end.
Souterrains were semi-subterranean cellars associated with above-ground Iron Age settlements. Although not visible on the available photographs the remains of the associated settlement may be expected to survive in the immediate vicinity of the souterrain.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the souterrain and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 90m as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
