Description

The monument is a prehistoric settlement consisting of twelve scooped platforms, which represent the sites of houses, lying in a group just to the E of Crookedstane farm. The area to be scheduled is oval, elongated N-S, measuring 200m NS and 110m EW, the centre of the oval being 200m E of the Ordnance Survey benchmark on the farm buildings.

Statement of Scheduling

The monument is of national importance as a well-preserved example of a later prehistoric patform settlement, lying toward the larger end of the scale in terms of numbers of house sites.
