Statement of Scheduling

The cairn is of national importance as a good example of a burial cairn which, despite its tree cover, is well preserved: it is of further importance because pollen preserved in the underlying old ground surface will allow an understanding of the vegetation and farming practices of the period immediately prior to its construction. Its importance is bolstered by its proximity to Balnaguie chambered cairn 80m to its west; for together they can give us a greater understanding of prehistoric burial and farming practices than either would on its own.
