Description

A long cairn measuring 61m ESE-WNW by 14m wide at the east end and 10m wide at the west end. The area to be scheduled measures 80m ESE- WNW by 35m to include the cairn and an area around it in which traces of activities associated with its use will survive, as detailed in red on the attached map.

Statement of Scheduling

The site is of national importance because it can lead us to a greater understanding of prehistoric burial and ceremonial practices. It is of further importance because pollen and features sealed beneath the surface of the cairn can enhance our understanding of the environment and land-use immediately prior to its construction.
