Description

The monument is a Neolithic/Bronze Age burial cairn measuring 15m (NS) x 16m (EW) and 2.5m high. The area to be scheduled includes ground in which traces of activities associated with the construction and use of the cairn will survive and measures 35m (NS) x 36m (EW).

Statement of Scheduling

The cairn is of national importance because of its good field characteristics and because of its potential contribution to understanding of burial and ceremonial activities in the Neolithic and Bronze Age. It is of further importance for the record of contemporary vegetation which will be sealed in the old ground surface under it.
