This monument comprises the remains of a large circular chambered cairn about 11m in diameter. Two of the large upright blocks which once formed the sides and end of the chamber remain in situ, a third has fallen in recent years. Other large tumbled blocks represent the other side slabs of the chamber. The area to be scheduled measures a maximum of 70m NE-SW by 40m NW-SE, to include the cairn itself and an area in which traces of activities associated with its construction and use will survive, as shown in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance for its potential contribution to an understanding of the structure of chambered cairns and also broader aspects of burial and ceremonial behaviour in the Neolithic and Bronze Age.
