A large circular chambered cairn on low-lying ground near the Ledmore River. The cairn is about 18m in diameter and 2m high. The area of the passage and a lintel stone are visible, although there are now no obvious standing stones marking the walls of the chamber. The area to be scheduled measures 50m in diameter to include the cairn and an area around it in which traces of activities associate with its use survive.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to contribute to an understanding of prehistoric burial practices and ritual beliefs. The cairn also incorporates important information on the architecture of prehistoric chambered cairns.
