The monument consists of the ploughed-down remains of a Roman temporary camp situated on the right bank of the River Clyde.
The two-period camp measured at its maximum size about 470m NE-SW by about 370m transversely. The smaller camp, on the same orientation, had its SE side 70m inside the larger camp.
The area to be scheduled includes most of the camps and an area around them within which traces of activity associated with their use will be found. It is irregular in shape, excludes the public road and Cornhill steading, and measures a maximum of 530m NE-SW by 440m transversely, as marked in red on the accompanying map.
