Description

The monument comprises the remains of at least 6 burial cairns and a

hut circle on the top of Montgoldrum Hill. The largest cairn measures 18.5m in diameter and 0.7m high. About 18m to the SW a second cairn, known as "The Camp", measures 17.8m in diameter; it has been severely robbed. To the NNE of "The Camp" is a line of 3 low cairns. A

further low cairn lies immediately to the NW. The hut circle lies to

the E of the cairns; it measures c10.5m in diameter, crest to crest, defined by a turf covered wall c 0.2m high. The area to be scheduled measures a maximum of 135m E to W by 80m N to S, as marked in red on

the attached map, to include the cairns and the hut circle and an

area around them in which traces of activity associated with their construction and use may survive; the modern fence bounding the area

to the S is specifically excluded from the scheduling.
