Description

The monument comprises the remains of a palisaded settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 45m OD. It comprises a roughly circular enclosure some 50m in diameter defined by a palisade trench with an entrance in the SE. Inside the enclosure are the remains of several pits and a circular structure some 15m in diameter. The W side of the enclosure has been destroyed by the construction of the B9124 road.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the cropmark remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is semi-circular with a maximum diameter of 70m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
