Description

The monument comprises the remains of a palisaded settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 20m OD above a sharp break of slope. It comprises a roughly circular enclosure some 40-50m in diameter defined by a palisade trench of which all but the S arc is visible. There appear to be the remains of further ditches of irregular form to the N of the enclosure.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the enclosure and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 90m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
