Description

The monument comprises the remains of a ring ditch house of later prehistoric date, visible on oblique aerial photographs due to differential crop growth.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 30m OD. It comprises a ring ditch some 12m in diameter with a ditch up to about 2m wide. Ring ditches such as this have been shown on excavation to represent the remains of former timber roundhouses of the later prehistoric period.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the ring ditch and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 40m as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
