Description

The monument comprises the remains of a palisaded settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 45m OD. It comprises a roughly circular enclosure some 50m in diameter. It is defined by a palisade trench which measures about 1-2m in width. Darker patches inside the enclosure may indicate the remains of former domestic structures. There is a scatter of pits across the field in which the monument lies.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the remains described and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 70m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
