Chirk Aqueduct

Uploader's Comments

Chirk Aqueduct in the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site carries the LLangollen Canal 68ft above the River Ceiriog. Completed in 1805 Jessop and Telford used hollow pillars and iron for the bed of the trough to reduce weight, both innovations which were developed into using iron for the entire trough at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
