Mersea Mount: a Roman barrow at Barrow Hill Farm

A Scheduled Monument in West Mersea, Essex

West Mersea Barrow

Uploader's Comments

A photograph of the center of the Barrow where cremated and the partly burned bones and ashes were put into a valuable glass jar encased in a leaden box some fifty or sixty years after the death of Christ, so it is very old. The items found are found in the colchester castle museum today!
