Wayside cross known as Cooper Cross on Sutton Bank

A Scheduled Monument in Cold Kirby, North Yorkshire

Cooper Cross Medieval Base

Uploader's Comments

Located at the top of Sutton Bank between the westerly car park and the main road. It stands close by where the old Hambleton Drovers road would have traversed the main road. All that remains is the 2ft 3 inches square medieval base. The square socket within the base is quite shallow so it is unlikely that the cross itself would have had any great height.Photo was taken in December 2011.
