All that remains is a broken shaft set in a medieval base with what looks like pieces of broken shaft lying alongside, The cross stands by an old track to Danby Castle known as the "Cut Road" and it would have acted as a Waymarker.On old maps the cross is referred to as Burton, however monastic records of 1234AD refer to the cross as Bothine
