Wayside cross known as Stump Cross on Beacon Hill, Danby

A Scheduled Monument in Glaisdale, North Yorkshire

Stump Cross

Uploader's Comments

Located near Danby Beacon on Lealholm Moor, it stands just a few yards short of an ancient track known as Stonegate which ran from Danby Beacon to Lealholm. The medieval base has been mounted on a couple of stone slabs with a short piece of shaft wedged into it.There are other pieces of stone lying around which could have been part of the original cross.
