This Wayside Cross is actually Roppa Cross North,Grid Ref: SE587930. It stands by an ancient track known as the Great Road ( Via Magna) this was the route used by the Conqueror on his way to York in 1069. The cross itself has been broken into several pieces one of which has been wedged into the base.Originally a wayside cross it now acts as a boundary stone. This photo was taken in late November 2011
