A Grade II* listed building, standing within a dry moat on a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Viewed from the front, the right-hand section is the older part of the building, dating back to the 15th century & altered in the 16th & 17th centuries. It was partly rebuilt & enlarged in the 18th century.
Sir Humphrey Chetham owned, lived & died in the hall in the 1600's.
Open days for the Victorian museum in the newer section are every 3rd Saturday in the month, 1-4pm.
