On the South side of St Cian's church in Llangian stands this 5th or 6th century gravestone. Its top has in the past been cut off and possibly used to affix a sundial. The Latin inscription is clear and reads
MELI MEDICI FILI MARTINI IACIT
(the grave) of Melus Medicus son of Martinus (who) lies here
