Description

Two large circles and part of a cursus visible as crop marks on air photographs. Nothing visible on ground.

The scheduled area is divided into two parts by a track running across the site NNE to SSW. The area to the NW of the track was excavated in 1967 and is now the site of an industrial estate. The area to the SE of the track consists of a large field, part of which is occupied by a cricket ground and pavilion.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric ritual practises. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
