The remains of possibly the first example of social housing in Britain, Built circa 1775 by Sir John Morris to house workers in his collieries and copper works. Designed by John Johnson of Chelmsford it consisted of 4 towers of 4 storeys around a central courtyard. Lack of a water supply and reluctance of workers to live in high rise flats led to its demise.
