The monument comprises the remains of an earthwork enclosure. The date or precise nature of the enclosure is unknown, but it is likely to be later prehistoric. The monument lies within an area of improved pasture and is visible as a low, sub-circular earthwork measuring around 30m in diameter internally, with a surrounding, rather denuded bank which meaures 5m wide x 0.5m high. There is no trace of an outer ditch.
The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of later prehistoric defensive organisation and settlement.
