The monument comprises two standing stones of Neolithic or Bronze Age date.
The stones stand on two well-defined but probably natural mounds at around 160m OD adjacent to a small burn. They measure approximately 1.5m and 2.5m high and stand around 3m apart. The monument represents the remains of a Neolithic or Bronze Age ritual site and is one of several such sites in the vicinity.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the stones and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 20m as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to add to our understanding of Neolithic and Bronze Age ritual practice. Its importance is enhanced by its association with other prehistoric ritual sites in the vicinity.
