Description

Late 19th century. Single storey school. Symmetrically

planned. Stugged red ashlar with contrasting dressings.

W ELEVATION: 4-bay inner range with blind central oculus and

end stacks; 2-bay wings have gabled entrance bays, shouldered

doors with fanlights and raised hoodmoulds, outer bays slightly recessed, twin-gabled end walls. All small-paned mullioned sash

windows. Saw-toothed skews with gabletted skewputts,

fleur-de-lis finials, slate roofs. 3-bay rear wing central on

E wall, shelter (corrugated iron roof) beyond open to N and to

S. Some minor additions at rear.

Playground bounded by rubble-built, ashlar-coped walls (former

toilets incorporated), spiked cast-iron railings to W.
