Description

This monument consists of a circular tower, probably of earlier 17th-century date, with a conical roof.

The tower has an external diameter of approxiately 3m and a wall height of almost 4m. The walls are rubble built and are harled externally. The present roof appears to be a modern replacement but the two timbers which supported the bell are still in position.

The monument is being rescheduled because the area originally designated was inadequate, being smaller than the ground plan of the tower itself. The area now to be scheduled is a circle 10m in diameter centred on the tower. This is to include the tower and an area around it which may contain evidence for its construction and use. The area is marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
