The monument comprises a recumbent stone circle of prehistoric date, which lies on a south-east facing slope and is apparently oval in shape, measuring 13m by 30m. Two stones survive upright on the west side, and one on the east, while others, including the two stones flanking the recumbent, have fallen. It was first scheduled in 1925, but the original scheduling documentation is missing and the area inadequately defined. The monument is being rescheduled to clarify the extent of the protected area.
The area to be scheduled is an oval measuring 35m E-W by 50m N-S centred on the centre of the circle, to include the remains of the stone circle and an area around in which traces of activities associated with the construction and use of the monument may survive, as shown in red on the attached map extract
