Description

The monument comprises an enclosure, dating to the prehistoric period, appearing as a cropmark on aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland, at a height of around 40m OD, and probably represents the the remains of a prehistoric settlement. It is defined by a rectlinear ditch, measuring c. 55m NE-SW by 30m transversely.

The area proposed for scheduling is rectangular, measuring 80m NW-SE by 60m transversely, to include the enclosure and any related features which may lie in its immediate vicinity, as marked in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance as an enclosed settlement which has the potential to enhance considerably our understanding of the prehistoric use of Strathearn.
