The monument comprises a palisaded settlement of prehistoric date, visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs and occasionally visible from ground level as colour differences in crops.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 20m OD. There is a circular ditched enclosure, measuring about 35m in diameter within a ditch no more than 1.5m wide. Several shapeless cropmarks in the interior may indicate the survival of internal deposits. A palisade is a timber fence of closely spaced posts set into a continuous narrow trench. Enclosed settlements such as this are characteristic of the earlier part of the first millennium BC.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 50m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
