Description

The monument comprises the remains of a palisaded homestead of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 120m OD. It comprises the remains of a sub-circular palisaded homestead some 35m in overall diameter, with a ditch some 1m wide. Within the enclosure is a dark cropmark which appears to represent the remains of a former domestic structure approximately 10m in diameter. There are several other such enclosures in the vicinity.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the cropmarks and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 80m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
