The monument comprises the remains of a souterrain of later prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies on a hillside in arable farmland at around 75m OD. It comprises a souterrain some 20m long and about 2m wide, aligned approximately NNE-SSW. A short length of ditch, about 1m wide, emerges from its S end, running for about 7m NW-SE.
Souterrains were semi-underground cellars attached to above-ground settlements during the Iron Age. They are generally thought to have been used for storage.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the souterrain and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular in shape with a diameter of 70m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
